One key component of any trip is the quality of the food available, well at least for me !! I cannot say that the quality of restaurants in the Banff area was excellent ( at least the few we ate in) but one that stood out was in the city of Canmore. The Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company, #1 838 10th Street, Canmore AB

The Flatbreads are varied and terrific, by the way, when did Pizza become Flatbread ?? Whatever you want to call them they are delicious. My favorite was the Farmer's Market. Fresh vegetables, creamy goat cheese( I had it without the Mozzarella ) just a wonderful meal. The one thing better was the Fig and Goat Cheese salad, my god is it stupendous, the greens are so darn fresh  the dressing, tasty. I had the salad twice for a meal, thats how great it is.
Organic Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, City Farm Chard, organic rhubarb , red onions and topped with Pesto and Goat Cheese
THE SERVICE IS ALSO FANTASTIC.. Cannot name just one server we had maybe 4 of their servers and all were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.
A REALLY GREAT PLACE Canmore is about 20 minutes from Banff and worth the trip.
They have other locations in Canada but the one in Canmore is the only one we ate at, if your in the area stop, eat and enjoy.
